Well.... It's been awhile...

I haven't posted in awhile. Two reasons why I haven't posted much lately. 1) SO busy! Tax season got the better of me this year. Working late nights and weekends wore me down!!! 2) Haven't lost any weight.

I haven't been very consistent in my eating habits. Some days I do great and eat a well balanced, controlled portion meal. Other days...I eat like it's my last meal. I'm hoping now that tax season is officially over, I can get back on track and lose this weight!!!! I will also be studying again for the CPA exam. I'm so over it already, just so ready to pass it and be done with it!

Well Since January I've lost a total of 4lbs. Which is better than gaining, but still not great! Obviously...

Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred!

So I started this workout this week and have completed 3 days. I have to say this is pretty hardcore for a beginner! But very doable! It's 20 minutes a day and is a combination of cardio, strength & ab workouts. I'm very sore and have been after day 1.
I think this is what I needed to get out of my no weight loss slump! It's more difficult than doing a 5K. At least in my opinion. Maybe it's because I trained for the 5K  over 2 months before doing it. But this workout works me out more than just straight running.
Anyway, I just wanted to share what I'm doing now since my I finished 1 of the things on my news resolution list.

Ok, So it's been awhile since I've posted. I've definitely thought about it. Just been way too busy! Also I've decided to not check in weekly with my weight. It has been making me very depressed. I've been working hard training for my first 5K which I finished this past weekend, look below for pictures! I talked my husband into doing it with me. I jogged most of the time and took quite a few short walking breaks. It was REALLY cold, probably around 40 degrees. It took us 41 minutes to finish. I was really proud of the time it took us and that we took the initiative to do the 5K.  I have already scheduled us to the Color Me Rad 5K in May. Woo Hoo!
Regarding my weight. It hasn't been dropping like I wanted it to. I figured by now I would have dropped at least 10 lbs. I'm still right at the 5 lb mark. I've been stuck there since I started this journey. Anywho, Look for monthly updates. After 9 weeks I have a total of 5.2 lbs gone.

6 Weeks In!

Well, it has been 6 weeks and I'm sad to say I haven't lost any weight this week. No weight gain either, which I suppose is good. I have been working out 3-4 nights a week and that may not sound like much, but I have been doing my Couch to 5k app religiously and also doing some exercises with weights. I do see some changes in my body, but nothing on the scale. Which my overall goal is to be healthy and look good. I wish I had some hard evidence, such as weight loss. I think I need to make a doctor's appointment and make sure everything is well..what it should be. My husband mentioned to me that my thyroid may be causing me not to be losing any weight. It just seems weird that I never exercised and I ate way more than I do now and I can't even lose a pound or 2. It's really frustrating. But I'm not going to let it get me down and stop me.

My 5K is 2.5 weeks away. I'm getting excited. I'm on Week 5 day 3 of my app and  hopefully I will make it pretty close to the end of the app before my race. But if I don't...that's fine too. I will complete it!

I know no one actually reads this, but someday when I reach my goal it will be nice to come back and read these.

Well tax season is in full swing for me and I got a day behind! I weighed in and had a 1 lb weight loss for the week. I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm going to guess my eating habits.

V-day dress for Isabel!

I decided to make my daughter a dress. I thought since Valentine's day was coming up, I would make it themed. I found a cute free pattern on Pinterest and it took me to this blog here, here & here! It's the same blog, but it's in 3 different Sew-along parts. Check out her blog, for other cute stuff!

This was my first time to ever use a pattern and first time to ever sew a garment. I'm very happy with the outcome. This Junebug dress is adorable. The original pattern is for a 2/3T and I had to adjust it to make it a 18 month dress. I just cut off about a 1/4 of an inch to the original pieces. The neck came out a little wide. But still adorable.

Week 4 Weigh In

Well this week flew by. I have to say I haven't done as well as I would have liked. But I weighed in this morning and had a gain of 1.8 lbs. This puts me at a total loss of 3.8 lbs. On to the next week and let's hope I get back on track.

On another note..I started Week 4 day 1 of my C25k app and it was really difficult. 3 & 5 minute jogging intervals were a killer. I didn't finish the first day. I started getting sharp pains in my right knee. I had to stop. I don't want to injure myself. I have a lot of weigh that I carry around and it's killing my knees and ankles. I'm going to try again tonight and hopefully the pain will be gone.

Baby Girl's New Quad

So my daughter just turned 1 in December and she got a ton of gifts between her birthday and Christmas not too far behind. Well, she got 2 of the same dogs (that dance and sing and annoy the shit out of me) so we returned them both. They sounded terrible... Like they were dying. Anyway, so we exchanged them for a baby quad! My daughter loves it so far. I had to share a couple of pictures. I still can't believe how big she is getting!


So when I first started this blog... I mentioned doing a square of the week. Well since then I have joined a crochet group on CafeMom. In our group we decided to do a blanket. What we will do is complete two 8inch squares a month and send them to someone else in the group so at the end of the year we will have (24) 8" squares to weave together and make a blanket. I thought this was a great idea. The only risk is not knowing the people well enough to count on them to complete and send. I've learned that the hard way with my other CafeMom group where we did birthday exchange and I mailed off the 1 year old her gift and my sweet Isabel did not receive a gift in return. Oh well it wasn't the idea of her getting the gift. I thought it would be neat to share with her when she got older. Any who! Back on the topic. So I completed my January squares and I am going to mail them off tomorrow.
I wanted to do two totally different looking squares. I found one idea on Pinterest, but couldn't find a free pattern so I made up my own. It turned out ok looking. The other is just an old fashioned granny square. I got the pattern from Attic 24.

Week 3 Weigh In

Well I weighed in this morning and had a weight loss of .6 of a lb since last week and a total of 5.6 lbs in 3 weeks. I felt pretty good about the week. I did my C25K app and am on Week 3 day 2 of the app. I also did some light weight exercises to help with my arms. But I guess my downfall this week would have to be the eating out. I love love love to eat. Especially Mexican food with all the fixings, you know, the good stuff like salsa & chips and queso! I thought I did pretty good on the portion control when it came to my meals, but not as good as I had though. I was hoping for at least a pound. But my weight went down, so I just need to be happy with it and realize that this is a marathon and not a sprint. Oh but how I wish it were a sprint. When I think about my overall goal it really helps me put what I'm doing into prospective. But once I start thinking about the short term, I start getting down.

New Haircut!

I got a new haircut this weekend. So far I like it. Got about 4 inches cut off of it and now have a long side bang.

Week 2 Weigh In

Well week 2 is over! I'm on week 2 of my C25K app and will be starting week 3 this coming Saturday. The pace is a little different. Jogging for 90 seconds,  Walking for 2 minutes for 21 minutes with 5 minute warm up & cool down for a total of 31 minutes. I have also incorporated some mild arm exercises with a weight ball/dumbbells. I feel like the C25K app is getting easier and harder at the same time. I don't feel as worn out like I did on day 1, But also the longer intervals is a little more challenging. I just have to keep going! I have a few supporters on Facebook who are cheering for me and my husband is also very supportive. I hope the weather permits me running outside soon. I know I can do it on the treadmill. But being outside always different.
On another note. I tried Laughing Cow Cheese this week. The original Swiss Creamy kind. It was DELICIOUS! I'm a huge fan of cheese! One triangle is only 50 calories and if you spread that on some Ritz (the only crackers I had at the time), it is awesome. 5 crackers is 80 calories. It makes a good afternoon snack for me while I'm at work for 130 Cal.
So I weighted in at the end of week 2 for a weight loss of 2.2 lbs for the week and a total of 5lbs total.

Glow Run!

Today I signed up for my first 5K ever. A co-worker of mine asked me if I wanted to do one with her. So we chose the Glow Run. As I was signing up it asked what size t-shirt I wanted. They had men's sizes up to 2X and women's up to XL. I was torn but went for the XL. I doubt it will fit, but whatever I wanted the V-neck. Haha! Better get my butt in gear! March 2nd is quickly approaching with less than 2 months away.

1st Week down

Well, the time has come for my first weigh in. I noticed my weigh fluctuated throughout the week. I'd be down, I'd be up, I'd be down, I'd be back up again. I wish I would have gave it my all this week. But let's just say....I shouldn't have bought that apple pie this week. By the end of the week, I got back on track of my original goals. I even put in some studying time in this past weekend. Studying has always been so hard for me. I hate it....With a passion. I have absolutely no desire to be locked up in my office studying. I've always been this way. Especially in College. I'm the definition of a procrastinator  I'm trying hard to change my ways. But, it's one habit I'll probably never break.
Anyway, I restarted my Couch25k app again. I really like this app. Though, I've never actually made it passed the first week. I think it's a butt buster. It's a 5 min Brisk walk for a warm up  then it's started alternating between 1 minute of jogging and 1.5 minutes of walking for 20 minutes total, then you do a cool down 5 minute walk. So basically it's 30 minutes of walking/jogging. I have a treadmill at home and after 30 minutes, I had went 1.747 miles. Not too bad for my 1st time back on the treadmill since September. If you haven't heard of the Couch to 5k app. You should check it out. My co-worker has talked me into participating in a 5k the first weekend of March, Which is obviously less than 2 months away. It's going to be challenging to say the least, but It looks like a good time.
Ok, time to get down to the nitty gritty. I weighed in and was down 2.8 lbs. Not too bad. I know the first couple of weeks I will lose more, since it's basically a wake up call for my body which has been in hibernation for months. I also decided to take my measurements last night. I'll be measuring Monthly on those.

Happy New Year!!- Starting Weight


It's 2013 and I have been resting today. Every Tuesday I'm going to post a weigh in and also post my SOTW. I'm going to try hard and keep up with the crocheting, but It may be a little too much at this point. I don't want to put other things that are way more important on the back burner just to finish a crochet project, because let's face it..Crocheting is not that important. Though, I do enjoy it after a long hard day at work.

So here is my beginning weight
1/1/2013- 240 lbs
